Want to know who we are are what we look like? Here are profiles of some of our most active club members . . . .
|
Dave Kent (Chairman)
Dave is a true chess fanatic and has been attending the club on a regular basis for over 10 years. His speciality is reviving opening variations from the past to shock 'booked-up' players. |
|
Richard Anderson
(Secretary / Captain 'A' Team)
I first joined the club at the tender age of 10 years old and, minus the odd break for university and studying abroad, have been playing for the club ever since. I work as a teacher in an IT training facility in Wolverhampton.

Steve King (Treasurer)
Steve has been a regular player for a number of years and has this year acquired the reins of power over club finances. |
|
Akin Hussein ('A' team)
Akin is a school science teacher and the second strongest player in the club. He has been a member for 16 years, and was secretary for 4 years.

John Waller (Captain 'B' team)
A retired teacher, John has been a stalwart of the club for over 10 years, 6 years as chairman. |
|
Andy James ('B' team)
Andy was part of the original membership of the club in 1984 (when we were based at Burton District Hospital staff club).
|
|
|
|
Cliff Salisbury ('B' team)
Like Andy, Cliff has been a member since the formation of the club. He also has the distinction of being the club's oldest member - still clocking up the wins at the age of 80-something. |
|
Other players
Les Fancourt ('A' team) |
Les joined the club at the start of last year, and had a successful first year playing for the 'A' team. |
Brian Holden |
Brian seems to be a member of clubs for every activity one could dream of (folk music, art, amateur radio), but still manages to fit some decent chess into his busy schedule! |
Barry Smith ('B' team) |
Barry has been a regular player for Trent for a number of years. |
